Most of us attend a friend or relative’s wedding and pick and choose from the event what exactly we’d like to copy (or avoid) for our own wedding. Well, guys, take note: I’ve found our new wedding role model: Erica Skuta, the now famous burger-eating, hockey-watching bride.

Though Erica Skuta and her husband Lewis Blake live in New Zealand, she remains a huge fan of her hometown hockey team, the Minnesota Wild. After their wedding reception on Nov. 29, she and Blake caught a Wild vs. Dallas Stars game in St. Paul, Minnesota — with Skuta still in her wedding gown.

While many of us assume we’ll be too afraid of ruining our wedding dress to actually eat while wearing it, Skuta was caught on the Jumbotron chowing down on a burger! When she gets a bit of sauce on her face, she leans in towards her groom and he wipes it off her face — both their eyes still on the game. Now that’s love. Neither, it seems, were aware they’d been filmed.

“I was kind of terrified when I first learned I was eating a cheeseburger on TV,” Skuta told the Star Tribune. “The response has been insane.”

Insanely positive, that is.

“When we got engaged, we both joked how neat it would be to do something a little different and have an after-reception party at a Wild game,” Skuta explained to BuzzFeed. “When the schedule was released at the start of the season and the game fell on the same day as the wedding, we had to go for it.”

In the end, isn’t that what weddings are supposed to be about? The joining of two people who love each other and, quite often, share interests? We think Skuta is an example for soon-to-be brides everywhere. Now, if we can only get her to come to our wedding! We’re certain we’d like to party down with this set of newlyweds!
