The Internet can't get enough of this pic of a woman breastfeeding at a presidential rally
Elle Bradford enduringly puts being a mom before everything else – including other people’s opinions.
Last Thursday, Bradford attended a Cleveland-based, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ rally and she brought her 6-month-old daughter Harper along for the ride. Since Harper is, ya know, a baby, she ended up feeling hungry while everyone around her was “feeling the Bern.” So, Bradford did what she had to do and breastfed her baby girl.
“There is no, ‘I’m feeding you in 10 minutes,'” Bradford told WEVS-TV. “It’s, ‘I’m feeding you right here, right now, or you’re screaming.'”
As you can imagine, there were cameras everywhere at the rally, so Harper’s breastfeeding session was caught on tape. Since then, the image has gone viral and Bradford explained that she’s received mostly positive responses – even from Bernie Sanders himself.
As the rally came to a close, Sanders and his wife Jane actually approached Bradford so they could take the time to thank her for being a mom. Others have done the same since the viral photo made its way around the world. “I’m shocked,” stated Bradford. “And pleasantly surprised.”
This favorable response is especially important to the mom because she was unable to breastfeed her 3-year-old son Gavin. Since he was born with a hole in his heart, he had to be tube-fed. Grandma Lee Bradford said, “So [with Harper] being her last baby, she was determined to do the breastfeeding and do it well.”
Additional proof: during an interview following her viral fame, Bradford was ready and willing to take care of Harper when the little girl began to display her hunger. You can watch the clip below:
