For many people, Thanksgiving tends to have the most traditional recipes. Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, potatoes — we’re literally getting hangry just thinking about all the heavenly food we’re going to consume next week. And when it comes to dessert…
It’s easy to forget to save room for pie. Sometimes when the pie course comes we’re too stuffed to partake. That’s why these adorable apple pie bourbon shots are so awesome. If you don’t think you could stand another slice of pie, but you want to get your sweet tooth (and drink) on, these mini shots are the ultimate burst of apple pie to get you through your food coma. Try a tiny slice of these, turn on Netfix for a good binge sesh and take the nap you’ve been waiting for!
Apple Pie Bourbon Shots
1 1/4 cup unfiltered apple cider
1 1/2 tbsp unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp allspice
1/2 cup bourbon
Pre-made mini pie crusts (You can find these in gelatin aisle at your local grocery store).
Add cider and gelatin to sauce pan and let sit for 1 minute to absorb.
Turn heat to medium and add the rest of ingredients through allspice (all but bourbon and pie crusts), and cook until sugar is fully dissolved (about 3 minutes).
Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temp.
Add in bourbon and stir.
Spoon mixture into pie crusts then set in fridge and let cool until solid (at least 2 hours).
Bourbon Whipped Cream
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp bourbon
Add all ingredients into a medium bowl and use a hand mixer to whip until small peaks form.
Dollop cream onto pie slices or use a piping bag.
Serve immediately 🙂
*Whipped cream will breakdown eventually and start to melt, so it’s best to do this when you’re ready to serve.
