A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Build-A-Bear stores were patronized almost exclusively by grumpy parents fulfilling the desires of their children. There are jokes and stories aplenty about begrudging adults spending time and money designing unique stuffed animals for a pint-sized recipient who will surely grow out of this soft, fluffy toy one day.

But if any toy has a long shelf life, it’s one from the Star Wars universe, and Build-A-Bear is now capitalizing on that. The design-your-own-stuffed animal chain is now offering a customizable creature from the sci-fi franchise: Ewoks! In case your Return of the Jedi knowledge is rusty, Ewoks are a kid-sized, teddy-bear-esque species native to the forest moon of Endor.  The Build-A-Bear Ewok is based off of the super cute character of Wicket, who is most known for saving Leia’s life from the Stormtroopers and for helping the Rebels defeat the Empire on the forest moon.

Even Peter Mayhew, who famously played Chewbacca, has gotten in on the excitement, and Build-a-Bear responded!

The Wicket bear retails for $28, though the shop’s site is currently offering a two for $45 deal. And if the brown fluffiness, toothy grin and traditional Ewok garb (a rustic tunic and head-scarf hybrid) aren’t authentic enough, for $7 you can get a sound chip inserted in your bear so that it will make these very real noises. Check them out here.

So in a nearby galaxy, otherwise known as a pretty much any mall, expect to see a whole new crowd. The force is strong with these Ewoks, and we think they’ll attract plenty of adult fans to this typically kids-only toy company.
