Emma Watson got an early start on the whole “New Year, New You!” thing with a brand new haircut. Her publicist posted a photo on Twitter with the caption “Amazing woman. Amazing hair.” The photo showed off Watson with a new asymmetrical, chin-length bob with tons of texture. It also appears she may have lightened it by a few shades.

The actress recently revealed she was never the biggest fan of her character Hermione’s hairstyle. In November, she told Vogue Italia, “When I see the images again from the first ‘Harry Potter’ I immediately think how bad my hair was.” Most of us can probably say the same when it comes to our teen hairstyles, and at least, for the most part, those are buried deep in family photo albums (or on lost memory cards).

As soon as she wrapped up filming the Harry Potter franchise, back in 2010, she chopped off her hair and debuted a super cute pixie. Since then, she’s grown it out into a moderately long length, lightly experimenting with highlights and the color here and there, with no major changes until now.

“If I had my way, I would have just kept it short forever,” which, according to, she told Glamour in September 2012 of her pixie. “Of course, men like long hair. There’s no two ways about it. The majority of the boys around me were like, ‘Why did you do that? That’s such an error.’ And I was like, ‘Well, honestly, I don’t really care what you think!’ I’ve never felt so confident as I did with short hair — I felt really good in my own skin.”

Obviously, Emma can have any hairstyle she chooses, but we’re particularly in love with this one. The style totally suits her and fits her image as badass actress and budding feminist icon.
