Fans who were excited to see Kesha perform at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards are in for some devastating news. It looks like the singer may not be allowed to perform during the show, after all. She took to Instagram to explain the change to her fans.

Kesha captioned a beautiful-but-grainy picture of herself playing guitar with the following message to fans:

E! reported the news that Dr. Luke’s label, Kemosabe Records, rescinded its permission for Kesha to perform in the show. Kesha is engaged in a longstanding and very public legal battle with Dr. Luke, who she says assaulted her for years. E! released the following statement from Dick Clark Productions, which is producing the Billboard Music Awards show.

We hope this situation is resolved and that Kesha is allowed to give the performance she planned. It sounds like a beautiful tribute and one that fans of both her and Dylan would enjoy.
