You must meet Doughnut Rat.

A humble New York City rat was spotted at 2:30 AM on Friday dragging a doughnut-that-is-officially-to big-for-it through a subway platform downtown. YouTuber Dustin Sherman caught the whole thing on film:

Now, if this has you thinking back to the glory that was (not, is, and forever will be) Pizza Rat, then you’re not alone. We’re not sure if these two furry guys are actually related, but we like to imagine that they’re cousins, all from the same human-food-loving family. These guys bring new meaning to the saying about your eyes being bigger than your stomach. Also biting off more than you can chew. But they’re just ambitious about their eating endeavors and we have to respect that.

All that’s left to wonder now is what oversized food item a New York City rat will be spotted dragging home next. A burger? A cupcake? An entire Chipotle burrito? We’ll just have to wait and see.

And whether you think Doughnut Rat is an adorable, intelligent critter just trying to make its way in the big, bad urban landscape, or the repulsive embodiment of everything that is disgusting about the city, you have to at least identify a little. Because who among us has not sprinted around a subway platform at 2:30 a.m. clutching a giant doughnut?

…Right? Right, everyone??
