When UK couple Kia Parsons and Billy Bunning were planning their August 14th wedding, there was one teensy problem. . . and it had to do with the cake. Kia had her heart set on a beautiful, traditional wedding cake for their ceremony. But Billy? He wanted something different — specifically, something that would showcase his love for superheroes, Marvel, and DC Comics. That’s two very different requests.

Luckily, they had Julie Baker of Tier By Tier cake design on their side. (Yes, her last name is Baker, because the world is a perfect place.) Julie spent hours and hours — specifically, 40 hours — concocting a masterpiece that would fit both Kia and Billy’s tastes. But oh boy, did she do it.

From one side, it looks as though the couple just went with Kia’s preferences: lace, pearls, and white roses. Absolutely stunning, of course, but where are the superheroes? Well, just turn it around. . .

Yep, the prim, white icing pulls back like a cape, revealing the superhero within. IT’S LIKE THE CAKE HAS A SECRET IDENTITY, GUYS. Billy’s side featured some of his fave Marvel and DC characters: Captain America, Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman.

“I loved every minute making this cake, as I knew it would be something that people would be surprised at and appeal to all the Marvel fans,” Julia told the Huffington Post.

“Julia did such a fantastic job and we were completely overwhelmed by how brilliant it looked!” Julia told Huffington Post. “From most angles of the room, the cake looked like a traditional wedding cake — just what we had wanted. It wasn’t until the cake was moved for us to cut that our guests realized there was a hidden extra. Some didn’t even realize until the photos went online after the wedding!”

What they didn’t realize was that their creation would not only please their wedding guests, but Internet dwellers as well. When Life of Dad shared the cake on their Facebook page, it started going totally viral. “I was surprised at how popular it was and how quickly the pictures circulated on social media,” Julia said. “I have plenty more ideas to work on and I am calling these ‘double-take cakes.'”

We totally LOVE this cake. Not only is it 100% brilliant, impressive, and the work of someone with true talent, but it has a super cute deeper meaning: that Kia and Billy have kicked off their marriage with the raddest form of compromising. We’re *almost* sad that it had to be eaten, but hey — it’s cake, right?
