How this one photo with his late father gave Chris Pratt his biggest parenting goals
Yesterday, Chris Pratt paid a beautiful tribute to his late father Dan Pratt on Twitter by posting a sweetheart childhood pic of himself with his brother and father, and an equally sweetheart message:
As EW reports, after many years of living with multiple sclerosis, Chris’ father sadly passed away in 2014 while Chris was shooting Jurassic World.
“He made [me and my brother] tough, you know, through sort of emotional scarification,” Pratt told GQ this summer. “Just an old school kind of dad. Which in a way is actually a good thing. Like, if you have weak hands and you go try to do something, it’ll rip your hands up, but if you condition them to be strong you’ll get callused and tough. I think we became that way because, in his day and age, that’s what men were. I think we both benefit from it now.”
In the same interview, Chris Pratt talks about how his father always let him know, “in his own way,” that he was proud of all that his son had accomplished.
“He didn’t really react in any way, one way or another, but he was definitely proud. If I was on TV, he watched everything I was in. So it felt like I was able to communicate with him through doing work that was on TV.”
Chris Pratt has one child, 3-year-old son Jack Pratt, with his wife Anna Faris, and we love that he took this Labor Day weekend to remind himself of the kind of dad he wants to be, a dad who helps his son to appreciate the world around him, who spends quality time with his boy, and who makes sure to take snaps of these moments to forever preserve these precious memories.
