Amid all the books you read and decisions you make during pregnancy, perhaps nothing is as important — or as stress-inducing — as figuring out what to name your baby once they make their way into the world. Whatever name you pick sticks with them for life, and that’s a lot of pressure to be under. Not to mention the parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents who might be clamoring to have a piece of their name passed on to the next generation. Though we can’t help you choose, we can give you some suggestions to get the ball rolling. And today, we’re sharing some baby names that start with A.

As it turns out, baby names that start with A come with a few surprising advantages over other letters of the alphabet. For example, one study published in 2007 found that students whose names begin with the letter A (or B) had higher grade-point averages than those whose names start with C or D. And, according to the website Nameberry.com, studies suggest that people with A names live longer than people with D names.

Whatever moniker you decide to give your progeny, the most important thing is to give them a name that means something to you, even if you think it just sounds cute or pretty. It’s your baby, after all!

Check out these baby names that start with A and let us know what you think!
