A little boy did a play-by-play of this "Hocus Pocus" scene, and it's so good that even Bette Midler approves
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In this case, it came from a reinacted Hocus Pocus scene that got Bette Midler’s attention. Since Bette Midler is still quite fond of her portrayal of Winifred Sanderson — check out her Halloween party this year if you don’t believe us — the high praise she gave the performance is even more valuable.
Oh, and did we mention that it was a little boy who pulled it all off?
Alfie Shields is a big fan of the film, and actually allowed his Dad, Steven, to record (and share) his re-enactment through Facebook. Alfie got so into the performance, that he even dressed up in costume. Check it out.
Based on the caption, it’s clear that Alfie thought this was his best work.
But, did he ever think that he’d catch the attention of Bette herself? Probably not.
So, now we know that Midler has a perfect stand-in for Hocus Pocus 2, if need be.
Alfie’s proud father has stated that Alfie’s been performing for, pretty much, his entire life. We know this kid has a truly bright future ahead of him!
