8 Teas You Need To Try Now
So, winter’s still happening, as is cold and flu season. Fortunately, there’s something that can help you get through both of these things more easily, and that’s tea. Tea is a highly underrated beverage. It’s not just coffee’s less potent cousin. With coffee, at the end of the day, you still get something that tastes like coffee. Tea comes in a way wider variety of flavors, and can taste like tea, fruit or even like cookies. Whether you’re already a tea aficionado or just starting to give it a try, here are eight teas you need to try now.
1. Earl Grey
When it comes to black tea, I’m usually an English Breakfast kind of girl, but sometimes you need to change it up. Also, I am pretty sure this is the ideal tea for drinking with scones, and what is tea if not an excuse to eat scones? A word to the wise: if you, like me, have a tendency to just leave your tea bag in your tea forever, do not do this with Earl Grey, as your tea will end up bitter and sad, which is not a quality you want in tea, or people.
2. Twining’s of London Green Jasmine
According to every health website, green tea is basically the healthiest beverage you can consume, what with the antioxidants and the metabolism boosting and all its other magical powers. There are a ton of varieties of green tea out there, but this one is my favorite. The jasmine has a soothing aroma that makes this the perfect tea for a simultaneously energizing and relaxing afternoon pick-me-up.
3. Tazo Rest
On nights when I have my act together, my favorite thing is to sit in bed with a book and sip a cup of Tazo Rest tea. As the name suggests, it’s perfect for pre-bedtime drinking. It’s got lavender and rose petals, so it’s basically like drifting off to sleep on a bed of flowers.
4. Pukka Love
Yes, this sounds moderately hippie and weird, and depending on your opinion of the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, you may be totally put off by a tea that says it’s going to “warm your heart.” I guess it’s worked, at least where tea is concerned. I’m usually not a fan of chamomile based tea, but I’m loving this one right now.
5. Celestial Seasoning Gingerbread Spice
Sure, the holidays are over, but I don’t believe that seasons should dictate flavor, and fortunately you can still buy this tea online. This tea magically manages to combine the spiciness of ginger tea with the sweetness of a sugar cookie.
6. Lemon Ginger
This is my absolute favorite tea for anytime I’m sick. This combination of flavors just makes me feel like I’m clearing all the germs out of my system. Pretty much any brand works, or you can be really fancy and make your own, which involves pouring hot water over some freshly grated ginger and adding a squeeze of lemon. You’ll be feeling better in no time.
7. Celestial Seasonings Wild Berry Zinger
If you’re one of those people who thinks you’re not a tea person, give this one a shot. It’s fruity and refreshing and is basically like drinking fruit punch, rather than tea.
Sometimes, it’s best not to overthink it and go with a classic. Tea snobs may mock me for recommending this, but I think it’s a solid basic tea and you can do pretty much whatever you want with it. Drink it plain, add a squeeze of lemon, or try it with milk, sugar, and a pinch of cardamom if you’re looking for something I think is better than any coffee store chai latte.
