These lifelong friends just found out they’re siblings (aka your childhood dream realized)
When you’re a child with a bestie, one of your greatest hopes is that they’ll magically become your sibling. Think about it — endless sleepovers, a confidant connected to you by blood, and a constant playmate. Who wouldn’t want that? Well, two longtime friends living in Hawaii found out that they’re living this dream, and it’s super cute. Kinda like Sister, Sister, but without the twin-ship and the comedic stylings of Jackée Harry.
Alan Robinson and Walter Macfarlane have been close homies for the last 60 years, and it turns out they’re brothers (half-brothers to be exact). They met in sixth grade, became best buds, and never looked back. Down the line, they realized neither of them knew their full origin story. A family adopted Robinson, who is about a year and a half younger than Macfarlane, and Macfarlane didn’t know who his father was.
After piquing their own interest, the men headed over to Ancestry.com.
After turning in DNA samples, the two men discovered that they were in fact related! They shared a birth mother.
The new brothers revealed their relation at a holiday party over the weekend, and it was a shocking and beautiful moment for their families. Robinson had lost a brother in his youth and often wondered about his birth mother, so the realization proved to be indeed spectacular.

Hilariously, the missing link that the brothers claim “did it” for them was their similar forearms. “It was a shock, definitely a shock, [we] compared forearms and everything,” Robinson told KITV. His bro, Macfarlane, responded with, “Yeah, hairy arms, that did it!”
Robinson added, “It was an overwhelming experience, it’s still overwhelming. I don’t know how long it’s going to take for me to get over this feeling…This is the best Christmas present I could ever imagine having,”
