Not sure how to process this amazing news, but ‘Life-Size’ is getting a sequel
If you could go back in time and tell your younger self in the year 2000 that one day they’ll be a sequel to the Disney made-for-TV movie, Life-Size, how do you think you’d react? Cheering? High-fives? Crying-you’re-so-happy? Well, we’re doing all these things now 15 years later. Supposedly, we’re thisclose to actually getting a Life-Size sequel, making a whole lot of our teenage dreams come true.
Life-Size starred Lindsay Lohan (post Parent Trap, pre Freaky Friday) as Casey, a teenage tomboy dealing with the loss of her mom. Casey tries to resurrect her mom via magic, and instead accidentally brings to life her Barbie-esque doll, Eve. Eve was played by Tyra Banks (still modeling, but pre America’s Next Top Model). Basically, Casey helps Eve through the human world, Eve helps Casey get over her mother’s death, and then Eve turns back into a doll. It’s not a sad ending, though, but rather happy, since Casey is on the way to being OK again.
But obviously it needs a sequel, and now Banks is giving us HOPE that it could happen as soon as next year. Talking to HollywoodLife.com, Banks admitted that there’s a script for Life-Size 2 out there, and she’s already read it.
“We have gotten many drafts of scripts, and the one thing I can say is that to the Disney Channel executives, Life-Size is so precious,” Banks explained, “It’s like their baby, so they just want it perfect. They keep re-doing it, and re-doing it, and re-doing the script, and we are in another round of redos, and we’re hoping for Christmas 2016.”
Christmas 2016 sounds perfect to us if it means Life Size is brought back to life. While there’s no word as to whether Lohan has seen any scripts, let alone would reprise her role, we can hope. We can also hope that the sequel includes another catchy theme song. And now please watch Banks sing the theme song for the Eve doll, because I’m not even kidding when I say this song has been stuck in my head for 15 years. It’s about time a new one took its place.
