“Life Itself” is basically just a “This Is Us” movie, but starring Olivia Wilde and Oscar Isaac
If you’ve ever wanted to watch Oscar Isaac sob uncontrollably, boy do we have the film for you. Dan Fogelman loves to make us cry week after week with This Is Us, and now, he’s going to make us cry watching our beloved Oscar Isaac in Life Itself.
Amazon Studios just released the teaser trailer for the upcoming film, and we are already stocking up on tissues. The trailer for the Fogelman-written and -directed film, which debuted during the season finale of This Is Us, doesn’t give away too much plot-wise, but the premise is definitely one fans of the hit NBC series will be familiar with. Isaac and Olivia Wilde star as the central couple in the film, which spans across generations and continents — from New York to Spain — with a single event connecting it all.
While the trailer doesn’t necessarily give away that singular event that changed everything, thanks to a particular shot of a young girl in the backseat of a car with glass shattering around her, we have a feeling it is going to be tragic.
The teaser opens with happy promise, finding the internet’s favorite boyfriend as an awkward college student working up the courage to ask Wilde’s character on a date, before giving us a glimpse at the other characters in our ensemble, including a budding rock star, a family in the Spanish countryside, a young couple finding love in the library, and the therapist helping a devastated Issac work through the events of the day.
He says to her, as clips of the other connected characters flash across the screen, “It’s strange to think about how a completely random moment would shape my entire life.”
