We just saw the trailer for the new Leonardo DiCaprio movie and it looks totally badass

After our film nerd minds were blown by Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) we’ve all been on pins and needles to see what this visionary director is going to bring us next. The wait is over, we just saw the trailer for his upcoming film The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and, you guys, “badass” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

So DiCaprio, all beard and dagger-eyes, stars in this based-on-a-true-story as Hugh Glass, a 19th century fur trapper who is mauled by a bear while hunting. As if the day isn’t already going badly enough, Glass is then robbed by his companions (Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, Domhnall Gleeson) and left for dead. BUT HE DOESN’T DIE. Otherwise there would be, you know, no movie. No, Glass survives, and sets out to exact vengeance on the men who betrayed him.

As mentioned before, this is BASED ON A TRUE STORY, Glass is basically the Old West version of The Terminator. This movie looks like the most intense of rides, and every shot is drool worthy perfection (as if we would expect anything less from the dude that gave the world Birdman).

The movie hits theaters Christmas, so if all that holiday cheer is getting to you and you need to shake things up with something dark as heck, The Revenant will be waiting for you…

Okay, trailer time! Feast your eyes on the cinematic badassery below!
