An ode to the glory that is Lennon and Maisy

If you haven’t already heard about the singing sister-duo, Lennon and Maisy, prepare to fall in love. The two have been releasing covers of our fave songs for years, and they just reworked Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap,” stripping it down to beautiful simplicity like nobody’s business.

Normally an upbeat, riot-ensuing song, Lennon and Maisy’s version is slow, steady and filled to the brim with emotion. And yes, you may even get a little teary-eyed. The performance is a full must-watch and here’s the link. Also, some style inspiration: Absolutely love that Lennon is barefoot and still rocking out her hardest.

Aside from their undeniable talent, Lennon (age 16) and Maisy (age 12) are the ultimate definition of a dynamic duo. Originally hailing from Ontario, Canada, the girls became interested in singing/acting, and Maisy auditioned for the show telling them she also had a singing sister. The girls were cast before their acapella version of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend,” went viral (their first YouTube hit) but the Nashville producers certainly spotted some super talent.

Nashville producer R.J. Cutler told their story of their casting to The Hollywood Reporter saying, “Even though the parts of Rayna and Teddy’s daughters had been written for a 6- and an 8-year-old, we decided on the spot to change the roles to fit Maisy and Lennon’s ages. Listening to them sing literally brought tears to our eyes. I’m not just saying that. Their voices moved us to tears. We knew we had to cast them.”

Aside from the songs the girls have covered on Nashville (like the Lumineers’ “Ho Hey“), Lennon and Maisy have since gone on to make a ton of homemade covers, including “Headlock” by Imogen Heap and “That’s What’s Up” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Even Maisy has her own cover of Missy Higgin’s song, “Secret.” Seeing these young girls filled with so much maturity and talent is otherworldly!

We can’t wait to see what Lennon and Maisy have in store for the future. For now, we’re gonna keep tuning into Nashville and enjoying their YouTube videos. P.S. Their YouTube channel is the realest.
