OMG: Lena Dunham just became a book publisher

Writer, director, actress, and podcaster Lena Dunham has just added another profession to the list: publisher. Buzzfeed reported this morning that the Girls creator is starting her own imprint, Lenny, at Random House, the home of her first book, Not That Kind of Girl.
Lenny will be a spinoff of the online newsletter, Lenny Letter, and will publish both fiction and nonfiction from new writers selected by Lena and her business partner, Jenni Konner.
“The imprint will be a home for the kinds of exciting, emerging voices — in fiction and non-fiction — that Lena and Jenni Konner are already attracting and publishing so successfully in their newsletter and on their site,” Random House stated. “Working with Lena, Jenni and the editors of Lenny, we plan to publish a select number of titles each year to build a varied, compelling, and voice-driven list.”
Lena Dunham spoke to Buzzfeed about the future of the imprint and what she hopes to accomplish by expanding to paper:
This is such an amazing opportunity for new and diverse writers to not only get the recognition they deserve, but also to work with some amazing people furthering the Lenny community. We love reading Lenny when it hits our inboxes, so we can’t wait until the day we can hold it in our hands.
