Lena Dunham is launching a podcast and here’s what we know about it
Seriously, what can’t Lena Dunham do? Author, actor, newsletter-er, and now, podcaster. She announced today on Twitter that she was creating, along with old friend Jenna Weiss-Berman, a podcast called Women of the Hour. Produced by Buzzfeed, the podcast was created in honor of the paperback release of her memoir Not That Kind of Girl. We truly cannot wait.
Dunham describes it as “an audio collage/feminist variety hour,” which sounds pretty perfect. Right now, all that’s available on iTunes is a five-minute preview, but it gives us some hints of what we can look forward to. There will be five episodes in the season, each with a different theme (friendship, love, work, and bodies). They’ll include bonus interviews and radio dramas, and a whole lot of fun that Dunham gives us a taste of with a quick montage of clips.
There are familiar voices, like Amy Sedaris, Jemima Kirke, Emma Stone, Zadie Smith, as well as new voices that we can’t wait to get to know. That’s the beauty of this podcast. It’s intimate and funny and everything we’ve come to expect from Dunham as she grows.
Unfortunately, we have to wait all the way until November 5th to get our ears on the first episode but, as Dunham urges us at the end of the preview, we can pick up a paperback copy of Not That Kind of Girl to occupy our time until the podcast hits our phones.
Dunham ends her announcement by saying:
