Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff have reportedly broken up after 5 years together

Unfortunate news from one of our favorite celeb couples: Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff have allegedly broken up. The two had been together for more than five years and, according to E! News, they ended things in December.

A source told E! that the decision to end the relationship was mutual, and that Lena and Jack were growing apart. The source said, “…it just made sense for them to end their relationship where it was.”

While any breakup is a blow, it seems like this one was on the nicer side. The source said, “They want the best for each other no matter what. They are both moving on.”

Despite the fact that the couple hadn’t made a public appearance together in about a year, things seemed to be going well for them — Lena had even casually discussed the possibility of marriage. About a month ago, Lena tweeted that she thought she overhead Jack telling his sister he was going to propose; he ended up saying he was “talking sh*t” about her instead. And in April 2016, Lena made headlines after posting a photo of a ring Jack gave her as an anniversary gift. Everyone assumed it was an engagement ring, but she added the hashtag #friendshipring to make things a little more clear.

The two definitely seemed to be keeping things more on private side the last few months. The last time Lena posted a photo with Jack on Instagram was in October.

There aren’t any other details out there about the split, and neither Lena nor Jack have made an official statement as of right now. Breakups are tough, and our hearts go out to both of them.
