Lena Dunham is cleaning out her closet to support this great cause
Cleaning out your closet is such a great feeling. You get to ditch the old, simplify your life, and start fresh. Not to mention make room for wardrobe updates! Lena Dunham is taking the closet purge one step further by cleaning out her closet in the name of a great cause. Dunham has decided to donate some of her signature outfits and most memorable fashion items to charity, and we love the idea of cleaning up for a cause that matters.
Lena Dunham will be donating 169 outfits to theRealReal, a fashion consignment website.
We’re talking award show dresses, Met Gala gowns, and even some pieces from her Girls character Hannah Horvath’s closet. The best part? All the proceeds from these sales will go directly to supporting Planned Parenthood. Dunham is an outspoken advocate and passionate supporter of Planned Parenthood. She sees this as just another way to give back to the organization that means so much and does such important work.
“If you had told me six years ago that we would be in the place we are now, I would have said that you were crazy, she said in an interview with The New York Times. “And now, The Handmaid’s Tale just seems too real. It’s a very, very challenging moment to be a woman in America. Planned Parenthood’s never been more essential. The work that I’ve done with them has really become front and center to my life, really as important to me as my art in a lot of ways.
We think that donating her clothes to support Planned Parenthood is a wonderful gesture from Lena Dunham. And we love this unconventional way to support women’s rights and celebrate fashion at the same time.
