Lena Dunham interviewed Hillary Clinton(!) and here’s a sneak peek
When we heard that Lena Dunham interviewed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for Dunham’s upcoming newsletter Lenny (Launching Sept. 29th, five days, so close!) we were THRILLED. And we also weren’t that surprised. These two smart, powerful, game-changing women seemed destined to sit down and have a good talk. A hang for these ladies seemed like a written-in-the-stars, meant-to-be kind of thing. We honestly hope this Lena-Hillary bond blooms into a friendship of Amy Schumer-Jennifer Lawrence proportions. But, even if their relationship forever stays a pleasant acquaintanceship, we’re glad the two got to sit down and talk about the things that matter.
Even though we’re on pins and needles to see the whole interview, we’re jazzed that a sneak peek at the convo was released; said sneak peek is a glorious minute in which Lena and Hillary discuss feminism.
“I think the question on every Lenny reader’s lips is do you consider yourself a feminist?” Lena asks.
“Yes, absolutely,” Hillary says, and it’s a straightforward/great response, but you gotta check out the video below so you can see the delivery, Hillary nails the “absolutely.” We’re going to be practicing in the mirror so we can try to crib this awesomeness.
“You know, I’m always a little bit puzzled when any woman of any age but particularly a young woman, says something like, and you’ve heard it, something like ‘Well, I believe in equal rights but I’m not a feminist,’ Well, a feminist is, by definition, someone who believes in equal rights,” Hillary adds.
Check out the clip from the interview below (called “When Lena Met Hillary!!!!!!!”) and join us as we impatiently wait for the full interview to drop with the inaugural Lenny newsletter on September 29th.
