Lena Dunham shared a ton of “Girls” Season 1 throwback pics, and they’re making us *feel things*
If you’re like the rest of us, you probably haven’t ~fully~ recovered from the Girls series finale last night. Because as beautiful and wonderful as one might find the conclusion to the series, it does mark the end of the show that defined the voice of a generation (sheds single tear). But alas folks, all good great things must come to an end, and Girls is no exception.
What we do have now to console ourselves is a little parting gift from Lena Dunham. As in, a whole bunch of throwback pics from Girls Season 1 a whopping six years ago. Posting to Instagram last night, the creator and star of the hit HBO show shared a bulk upload of candid shots. And you’d best grab your box of tissues now and brace yourselves for all the feels.
In the nine photos tacked onto the post, Lena included snapshots of her once “Untitled Lena Dunham Project,” Lena and co-star Allison Williams sharing a hug, a baby-faced Adam Driver in the makeup chair, and selfies with a few of her most notable Girls collaborators including Judd Apatow and Andrew Rannells.
Seriously, folks, do yourselves a favor and scroll through all of these. It’s a serious (and emotional) blast from the past!
And if you know Lena at all, you know that wasn’t the only post she shared with her 3.1 million Instagram followers. She also posted a funny homage to the show’s executive producer, Mr. Judd Apatow, stitching a few of their more candid red carpet photos together.
Ms. Dunham even shared an email she sent directly after chatting with Jennifer Konner, who would ultimately become Girls’ showrunner. “Little did we know,” she titled the enthused post.
Now excuse us while we scroll through all of these posts and cry for another 12 hours. Girls may be gone, but it is most certainly not forgotten!
