Lena Dunham is joining forces with your favorite childhood book and it’s going to be really cool

If you’re like us, you had very important follow-up questions about Lena Dunham’s Eloise tattoo pretty much the second that you saw it. Yeah, we know she got it when she was 17, on her lower back, at a strip mall in Taus, New Mexico, with her whole family present. But what does it mean to her? What does it symbolize? Who inspired her? Well, all our questions are about to be answered in Lena’s latest project.

The creator and star of HBO’s Girls and author of Not That Kind of Girl has made a documentary about Eloise‘s illustrator Hilary Knight, and it looks promising. Check out the trailer for yourself if you don’t believe us:

Eloise, of course, is a beloved book series by Kay Thompson, about a little girl who lives at the Plaza, orders room service, and has misadventures in New York City. It’s brought to life by the illustrations of Hilary Knight.

The film reflects on Knight’s life as an illustrator and his relationship to his most successful work. Not to spoil anything, but there also appears to be a movement to make “Eloise-y” an adjective, which we are 100% on board for.

It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise premieres on Monday, March 23 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO. I think I speak for us all when I say I’ve blocked out the calendar to order pizza, pretend it’s room service, and watch!
