Lena Dunham basically just said that America Ferrera wants to run for president one day and we are HERE FOR IT
Apparently, ever since the DNC, Lena Dunham and America Ferrera have become the political girl power duo we all want and deserve, especially during this particularly heinous election cycle. Since the presidential race has been so hugely divisive — especially when it comes to issues that impact women specifically — it’s nice to see two women in power being brought together by the current political climate, instead of being forced apart. America Ferrera hasn’t been the least bit shy about her political views, and we love how vocal and passionate she is about important causes.
Lena Dunham recently shared an Instagram that gives us hope that America Ferrera will do more than support presidential candidates in the future — maybe she’s aiming to… BE one?
Lena’s caption starts off by reminiscing about their experiences together since becoming friends along political lines.
"Meeting @americaferrera was a turning point in my life. We very quickly realized our politics and belief systems were almost surreally aligned and that our differences actually made us a pretty killer team. Since our friendship began less than a year ago we've campaigned together, eaten a shit ton of gluten free pizza, wailed in frustration on FaceTime and even spoken at the DNC."
Awww, too sweet. But it goes on to say the thing that has us SO EXCITED.
She's helped me grow and understand the intersection of my personal politics and government policy that was once opaque to me. I'm convinced she'll be president some day and I'll finally get that White House pillow fight I've been dreaming of. I love you sister #makeamericaferreraagain"
We’re not sure if this is an in-joke between friends, or a hopeful supposition on Lena’s part that America Ferrera has nothing to do with… but we’re kind of hoping America Ferrera is actually planning to run for president, because that would be PRETTY incredible, in our not-so-humble opinions.
