Blair Waldorf sings “Blue Christmas,” makes us feel infinitely more festive

No holiday song will ever replace Mariah Carey’s iconic “All I Want for Christmas is You” as the go-to song of the season, but this one actually comes close. Leighton Meester (the actress who stole our hearts as Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl) teamed up with Dana Williams for a soulful cover of “Blue Christmas,” and it instantly has a place on our playlists.

Nearly everyone is familiar with the song, as Elvis Presley’s version is a holiday classic around the world. He included the song on his Christmas Album way back in 1957. Covering the King is a pretty bold move, but Williams and Meester breathe new life into an old favorite and nail it. This isn’t their first time working together, as the duo collaborated before on a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.”

If you remember, Meester lent her vocals to Cobra Starship’s “Good Girls Go Bad” back in 2009. She also released her own album, Hearstrings last year. She’s been keeping a low-profile since the birth of her daughter, Arlo Day, earlier this year, and if she decides to totally ditch acting for singing instead, we’re all for it.
