Dad helps daughter build the most epic $100k Lego ‘Jurassic Park’
Paul Hollingsworth wanted to prove to his 8-year-old daughter, Hayley, that they could “do anything with Legos.” So, creating a 3-minute Jurassic Park Lego short seemed like a pretty good idea. You might think the Internet is already full of too many Lego recreations, but listen, this one puts all those others to shame.
The father and daughter duo began animating this project during Christmas break, and the final result is phenomenal. They’ve taken some of the best scenes from Jurassic Park, and woven them together using only Legos, from the characters, to scenery, to even the dinosaurs. It’s not just simple animation, either — Paul and Hailee spared no expense and pulled out all the stops.
In saying that, a huge dinosaur-sized undertaking comes with a huge price. According to The Verge, they corralled $100,000 worth of Legos from friends and supporters to make this video. But it’s totally worth it, since the end result is phenomenal. Best Lego Jurassic Park out there on the Internet? Most definitely.
Hey, you definitely don’t need to spend ANY money for a dad-daughter bonding sesh, but we’re super-impressed with what this duo came up with. It’s rad to see a dad encouraging and inspiring his daughter’s creative endeavors in a major way.
Along with the 3-minute short, they also created a behind the scenes video, which is just as fascinating to watch. Paul and Hailee used a ton of real movie magic effects to bright this short to life, and Hailee didn’t just watch from the sidelines — she helped animate some of the scenes, too!
You’ve got to check their video out and marvel at it, too. Maybe we’ll even see Hailee accepting a Lego Academy Award one day? First person to thank? Dad.
