We’re bummed to report that Lea DeLaria from “Orange Is The New Black” just called off her engagement
Sometimes, people get cold feet. Other times, people realize that their relationship just wasn’t as strong as they had hoped. No matter what the reason was, we feel for Lea DeLaria from Orange Is The New Black, who just called off her engagement to girlfriend Chelsea Fairless.
The good news? DeLaria broke the news in a lighthearted way. The actress, who is best known for playing Big Boo on the hit Netflix show, also dabbles in comedy quite a bit, so she’s probably used to seeing the funny side of sad situations. (For the record, DeLaria is also a singer. She’s incredibly talented in general.)
"Please exclude us from the tragic and basic celebrity breakup narrative," DeLaria wrote. "We were happy together for four years and will remain in each other's lives. In fact, we look forward to finding new ways to torture each other."
We’re loving the fact that the photo DeLaria chose, which was an engagement photo, has “It Must Have Been Love” by Roxette playing in the background.
Of course, fans of the two were nothing short of supportive. In fact, it looks like the way DeLaria announced the split was a breath of fresh air for some.
It just goes to show you that even in the public eye, you can handle a breakup with respect, dignity, and humor.
