Laverne Cox’s teaser for “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is EVERYTHING

Ever since we heard Fox is remaking cult-favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Orange Is The New Black‘s Laverne Cox, we’ve been counting down the days to see her ascend to the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Lucky for us, Cox released a teaser yesterday featuring herself in a quintessential Frank-N-Furter get-up with vibrant red hair. In the clip, she walks confidently toward the camera before kissing the screen and declaring “Let there be lips!” The gay pride-themed teaser shows the lips transforming from red to rainbow before fading away. And of course it wouldn’t be complete without Dr. Frank-N-Furtner’s signature maniacal laugh and the chords of “Time Warp” bubbling ominously underneath. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

The remake, which debuts this October, also stars Adam Lambert, Victoria Justice, and Ryan McCartan, as well as the original Frank-N-Furter himself, Tim Curry, who will narrate the show.

For those unfamiliar with the plot, lovers Janet and Brad (originally played by Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick) discover Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s home after their car breaks down in the rain. Within the walls of the ominous castle, they quickly meet the acquaintance of the flamboyant, alien mad-scientist Frank-N-Furter, who is hosting a convention.

This isn’t just any convention — it’s a Transylvanian science convention to debut “Rocky Horror,” an attractive young man designed to meet Frank-N-Furter’s sexual desires.

The show, which also exists as a play and is often viewed with a lot of rather risque audience participation, is not a live musical like recent hit Grease: Live, but a full remake made for TV. With musical theater and movie director Kenny Ortega at the helm, we’re sure the new version will have great nods to the original and fresh spin on the classic, adults-only musical.

The eccentric, brilliant Frank-N-Furter is a role Cox was born to play. We’re excited to see the cult classic transform into a two-hour event this fall.
