ICYMI: Laverne Cox looked next level gorgeous at the Golden Globes

In an industry where trans individuals are still an unrecognized minority, Laverne Cox has continuously overcome every obstacle in her way. Cox is a champion for diverse representation; incredibly gifted and hardworking; and an all-around badass human. And now, the actress is finally getting the recognition she deserves. This year, Orange is the New Black was nominated for Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical) at the Golden Globes — and while the series didn’t win, we still think Cox stole the show.

Last night was Cox’s very first Golden Globes, but it will undoubtedly not be her last. The star looked gorgeous in a long white dress paired with elegant hair and make-up, the perfect ensemble for a breakout television star. It was obvious that Cox felt as beautiful as she looked — and while we’re happy to gush over her outfit, we were even more excited to see Cox’s work acknowledged and celebrated at the Golden Globes.

Along with being an immensely talented actress and activist, Cox is a fashion icon — and the star took to Instagram to post some gorg photos of herself from the red carpet last night.

Cox wore a custom gown from Elizabeth Kennedy New York, emerald jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, a clutch by Nathalie Trad and custom shoes by Kenneth Cole. And being the wonderful lady she is, she thanked her entire “village” on Instagram for helping to pull the look together.

Cox also gave the sweetest shoutout to her publicist Jami Kandel for keeping her train “on fleek”.

But wait. There’s more. After the show, Cox had a wardrobe change, killing it in yet another stunning white dress.

Cox told PEOPLE that she’s trying to enjoy every minute of working on the OITNB, no matter how big or small. We’re pretty sure last night’s moment was a big one — and she totally deserved it.
