There are so very many reasons to love Laverne Cox. Not only is she an incredibly talented actress who kills it as Sophia on Orange is the New Black — for which she made history by becoming the first transgendered person to be nominated for an Emmy — but she’s an inspiration in general to so many men and women in the transgendered community.

Her latest action is simple, yet makes a powerful statement about body positivity and confidence.

Cox posted a #JustMe selfie on Instagram wearing no makeup and a sporting an easy, completely natural hair style.

The selfie perfectly captures Cox’s grace and confidence, and cements the fact that she’s a serious role model for women and artists everywhere.

“As an actress and a woman I love being able to transform, to switch up my look when I want to with wigs, weaves and bundles a plenty. I love this too. It’s about choices and options,” she says in the caption.

While a makeup-free selfie might not seem like a big deal, it reminds each and every one of us that embracing ourselves is beautiful, and that you don’t need to subscribe to any specific standard to feel good.

And when she’s not totally inspiring us on Insta, Cox is leading a very busy life. She scored leading roles in this fall’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Freak Show, and the TV adaptation of Doubt, and we couldn’t be more excited.
