Lauryn Hill performed an at-home version of ‘Doo-Wop (That Thing)’ and we love it
Cancelled shows are no fun — especially if you’re a long-devoted fan. But sometimes there are just factors that are beyond one’s control, like illness or bad weather or travel arrangements falling through. That’s exactly what happened to crooner of our hearts Ms. Lauryn Hill, when she and her band were unfortunately unable to travel to Lagos, Nigeria, to give a concert for some excited fans.
In a post on her official website, the band shared a photo of themselves posing in the airport where they were stranded, while offering their condolences to the fans who missed out on a performance from Ms. Hill.
Not one to leave it at an online apology, Lauryn recorded a separate message for the fans in Nigeria on Saturday, where she performed a special acoustic version of her song “Doo-Wop (That Thing)” —accompanied by some of her backup singers as well as her daughter, Sarah. And the best part? The whole song went down from the comfort of her own living room. If that’s not the best way to personalize an apology, we don’t know what is! Here’s a taste of the scene:
She’s known all over the world for her pipes, but it’s fantastic to see her jamming out on the guitar. She performed a small acoustic tour earlier this year, so this just makes us wonder if an unplugged album isn’t too far off in this lady’s future. Pretty please?
Check out the vid on her Facebook page. We’re in love.
