Lauren Conrad’s DIY Cruella de Vil Halloween costume will totally scare some Dalmatian puppies

Halloween is a time for spooky stuff, and there’s nothing more terrifying than an eccentric old woman who buys Dalmatian puppies so she can wear their skin. This year, Lauren Conrad’s Halloween costume channels the iconic One Hundred and One Dalmatians villain, Cruella de Vil.

“This year I decided to go a little less sweet, and channel one of my favorite Disney villains instead: Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians,” Conrad wrote on her blog.

Here’s Conrad’s interpretation of Glenn Close’s portrayal of the puppy-hungry character.

Conrad says she’s dressing her son Liam up as a puppy. Cue the collective “awwws.”

“I almost always make my Halloween costumes from scratch,” Conrad explained. “The process usually involves cutting, sewing, and a whole lot of tulle. But this year, I found myself with a little less time on my hands (I’m sure my fellow new mothers can relate…), so I opted for a less time consuming costume. I still put together this costume myself, but all of the individual pieces can be purchased — no sewing skills required.”

Here’s Conrad’s costume list to put together the above look.

  • 1. faux fur coat
  • 2. black slip dress
  • 3. red pumps
  • 4. red opera length gloves
  • 5. black and white spray-in hair color
  • 6. red lipstick
  • 7. black handbag (Conrad used her own from her Kohl’s collection).

Conrad suggests hitting up Etsy for the fur coat (we think a vintage or Goodwill would have some too).
