John Oliver tries, and fails, to claim the Iron Throne in the Season 4 trailer for “Last Week Tonight”

Rejoice, we are almost out of this long, and dark drought without our favorite HBO TV series! Before you know it, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will be back!

Oh, did you think we were talking about a different hit HBO TV series? No, we’ve still got a long ways before Game of Thrones comes back. So eh, guess John Oliver will do for now.

HBO has just dropped the trailer for Season 4 of the show, where John Oliver will recount the events of the week, while making us think and laugh at the same time — and maybe continue to remind us that we’re all doomed and if we don’t do something the world is going to fall apart! John Oliver is a loose news cannon, and who knows what he’s going to be yelling about from week to week! News is crazy!

Before we can get back to the news, John Oliver can’t help but poke a little bit of fun at himself, as he wanders through the sets of some of HBO’s *actual* big TV shows. He awkwardly caresses the Iron Throne (and sadly, is not allowed to sit in it). He winds up in Pied Piper’s living room, where Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) can’t help but share his true feelings:

"Sometimes we don't want a British man yelling at us about how the world is ending for a whole hour," Dinesh states. "It's a half an hour show." John shrugs. "Doesn't feel like it."

Half hour, hour, we’ll take whatever John Oliver is willing to give us. Last Week Tonight returns February 12th, which, tbh, is all we really need for Valentine’s Day. Don’t bother getting us anything else (unless it’s the Iron Throne).
