Lana Del Rey opened up about the need for happiness, and this is a message we can get behind

She may have once been known for her melancholic music, but Lana Del Rey now believes that happiness is the way forward, and it’s a message we can 100% get behind.

As a former “Sad Girl,” Lana Del Rey is taking a step away from her former image and moving towards the light. The singer made a comeback earlier this year with her cinematic track, “Love,” and recently shared her new single, the Weeknd-assisted “Lust For Life.” If that weren’t enough, Lana also shared a witchy album teaser, in which she claimed she had been living in the “H” of the Hollywood Sign and cooking up her new music.

Now, in a new interview with Elle UK, Lana Del Rey has opened up about her new music, and her more positive outlook on life.

Part of why we love Lana Del Rey is because her music is so emotional, but we’re happy to hear she’s on the path to happiness, too.

"I think happiness is the ultimate life goal. I think it's the only thing that's important. There are no mechanisms in place for routes to happiness, that's the whole f**king problem," the singer told the magazine. "I think people are unhappy in school – the education structure has been the same for a long time and kids are still not satisfied with their educational experience. And you don't have enough conversations when you're young about what makes for a satisfying, mutual relationship. Those collective life experiences – your youth, your academic education and your education about business, marriage or relationship goals – they all lead up to your collective happiness. "I think the emphasis is on the wrong things and it has been for a long time."

Lana also spoke about how, at the beginning of her career, she created a very specific persona that she is now slowly letting go.

“I know that if I had more of a persona [before], I have less of one now. And I think it comes down to getting a little older. Maybe I needed a stronger look or something to lean on then,” she admitted. But I feel like it wouldn’t be hard for me today to play a mega show in jeans without rehearsing and still feel like I was coming from the right place.”

Also on the agenda was Lana’s new music, which she said was partly inspired by the political climate of the last 18 months, and how the troublesome relationships of her past were no more.

“All the tough things that I have been through – that I’ve drawn upon [in my work] – don’t exist for me anymore,” she revealed. “Not all my romantic relationships were bad, but some of them challenged me in a way that I didn’t want to be challenged, and I am happy I don’t have to do that now.”

Meanwhile, there have been rumors that the release of Lana’s upcoming fourth album, Lust For Life, had been delayed to later this year. Breathe Heavy reported that the album was now slated for a July release. However, it was later reported by the site that the album is on course to be released on May 26th was still on course. There has yet to be any official confirmation of a release date from Lana and her team about the collection, which is said to feature duets with Stevie Nicks and Sean Lennon.

Regardless, it’s so great to see Lana happy and healthy, and sharing her pearls of wisdom with the world. We couldn’t agree more with what she has to say, and we’re totally into her new lust for life.
