Lana Condor opened up about her relationship with Noah Centineo—and her real-life BF
For every generation of great romantic comedies, there’s at least one iconic couple that lasts for the rest of eternity. Breakfast at Tiffany’s gave us Holly Golightly and Paul Varjak. We fell in love with Annie Reed and Sam Baldwin in Sleepless in Seattle. And the ’90s brought us Zack Siler and Laney Boggs in She’s All That, to name just a few.
Over the summer, we found the latest addition to the list of iconic rom-com couples: Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Jenny Han, the Netflix film is easily one of the most delightful rom-coms in recent memory. The movie also made instant household names out of Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, who star as a couple of high schoolers who fake a relationship before actually falling for each other.
In the newest issue of Rollercoaster magazine, Condor opened up about her friendship with Centineo and the incredible chemistry that made their on-screen relationship so convincing.
"I have this beautiful relationship with Noah. He's a great friend of mine in real life." said the X-Men: Apocalypse actress, per E! News. "I would say that we probably did our job right if people like us together. I mean, when I watched the film back, I wanted Peter and Lara Jean to be together! So I completely understand that."
The actress, who stars in upcoming SyFy series Deadly Class, also opened up to the magazine about her relationship with fellow actor Anthony De La Torre, whom she’s been dating for the past three years. “I have this beautiful relationship with my real-life boyfriend. I don’t know how I got so lucky!”
Condor revealed that, like Lara Jean, she’s also a hopeless romantic—although instead of secret love letters, she favors the classic “check yes or no” love note. “I was the girl in middle school who would write those little letters, like ‘Do you like me? Do you not like me? Check yes or no!’ I am a hopeless romantic,” she said.
And it seems she and De La Torre are both pretty into romantic gestures. “I still write love letters now and so does my boyfriend,” she said. “He even draws pictures on the front. I would say he’s more romantic than I am!”
We’re so glad Condor is getting the recognition she deserves, and we can’t wait to see her in all her upcoming projects. Meanwhile, we’ll be waiting for Netflix to greenlight a To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel!
