Welp, it sure sounds like Lady Gaga *isn’t* coming back for more “American Horror Story”
Lady Gaga sure made a splash when she first strolled into Hotel Cortez for American Horror Story: Hotel. Her role in the fifth season snagged her a Golden Globe, and a return to Roanoke the following year. However, as for the future? Don’t hold your breath when it comes to Lady Gaga appearing in AHS Season 7.
The Television Critics Association press tour is underway right now, and earlier today Ryan Murphy and his ever-expanding television empire on FX took to the stage to tease what’s coming next. We learned things like, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are coming back for AHS Season 7, YAY! And, American Crime Story: Katrina, has been delayed until 2018, and BOOOO.
As for what’s coming after these things, Murphy was asked about the future third season of American Crime Story, which will focus on the murder of Gianni Versace. Last year, there was a cool rumor that Lady Gaga would star in that series, as Gianni’s sister, Donatella Versace (the resemblance is there). During his TCA panel, he was quick to shoot this rumor down with a firm, “no,” meaning that NO, Lady Gaga won’t be joining another one of his anthology series.
Elaborating, it sounds like Lady Gaga isn’t coming back for any anthology series in the near future. While he’s talking about American Crime Story, Murphy can’t help but talk about how busy Gaga is going to be this year, and how she just doesn’t have free time:
"She’s very busy this next year — she’s doing Super Bowl and then she’s doing A Star Is Born and I believe that she’s going on tour. And when you’re going to do a show like [American Crime Story], it’s a five-month commitment, it’s a very big show, we’re shooting it all over the world. So I just don’t think with her schedule, I knew that it would never had worked. But I would love to work with her on something in the future.
His last line is also quite revealing: love to work with her on something in the future. That means, there’s nothing currently lined up between the two, and that includes more American Horror Story. While Murphy is in the early stages of getting it off the ground, it sounds like he’s not betting on Gaga showing up to play a woodland witch nymph any new character. Womp, womp. Hey, at least we still have Evan.
