Lady Gaga lost one of her closest friends to cancer, and our hearts are with her
Losing a loved one is never easy, and Lady Gaga knows it all too well. Over the weekend Lady Gaga lost a close friend to cancer, and our hearts are with her right now.
On Friday, Gaga’s longtime friend, Sonja Durham, passed away after battling stage IV cancer.
The news is heartbreaking, and we can’t help but feel for the singer and her loved ones. According to TMZ, Durham’s husband, Andre Dubois, announced the news on Twitter writing that she died “peacefully and beautifully.”
Although the “Edge of Glory” singer has yet to comment on the devastating news, she previously wrote a sweet post about her friend. On Thursday, Gaga shared an empowering image of Durham and revealed how strong she was.
“Watching one of my best friends in the world show unfathomable courage, strength, and positivity while battling cancer has really changed my life. Thank you Sonja for inspiring me and all of us everyday with your joy,” Gaga wrote.
The pop singer remained supportive of her friend, with whom she had shared so much.
"I love you so much it brings tears to my eyes just to think of all the years we've spent together backstage running the show, taking care of each other. You are one of a kind. I'm so proud of you. And you and Andre, your unbreakable beautiful love is what life is all about," she wrote.
She continued gushing about her love for her friend, and how obvious it is in their cherished pictures.
Gaga also wrote the bonus track, “Grigio Girls” about Durham and how her illness impacted their friendship. It is a lovely dedication to a wonderful woman, and it makes our hearts so full.
We are so sorry to hear about Gaga’s loss, and our thoughts and love are with her and Durham’s family.
