Lady Gaga announces new album “Joanne” will be out Oct. 21st and we are screaming
Did you hear that? That was the collective screams of all the Little Monsters from across the globe!
Mother Monster, AKA Lady Gaga, announced on Apple Radio’s Beats 1 that her fifth studio album, Joanne will drop on October 21. OMG, that’s so soon! Gaga released her new single, “Perfect Illusion” last week, so we knew an album was coming; we didn’t know it would be this soon, though!
In fact, Lady Gaga told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe that the album is “actually going to be done in the next 48 hours.
The internet is appropriately FREAKING out over the announcement.
And although Gaga says that “there’s definitely a bitter-sweetness to [finishing the album],” she says, “this isn’t the end just the end of this moment. It’s also the beginning of this moment.”
And if you were wondering where she came up with the name of her fifth studio album, Mother Monster explains:
“When Mark [Ronson] and I wrote it, the decision to name the album that was in tribute to my father’s sister who died when she was 19. It’s everything about Joanne, which also happens to be my middle name (I was named after her); it’s all the toughness of the pain of losing her that made us all strong and made us who we are. She is the woman of my past who is becoming and helping me bring more of my honest woman self into the future.”
You can pick up Gaga’s Joanne on October 21st.
