Lady Gaga’s new movie A Star Is Born is making people cry, and they’ve only seen the trailer

Bradley Cooper debuted the trailer for the movie A Star Is Born (a remake of the 1937 film of the same name) at CinemaCon this week and based exclusively on Twitter reactions alone, the Lady Gaga-starring flick is going to win all the awards. At first glance, a musical remake starring a pop star doesn’t seem so revolutionary, and yet it might be.

Cooper unveiled the trailer for his directorial debut Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 during the Warner Bros. panel, and the audience loved it. A smattering of the reactions on Twitter included:

Utterly electric,” “Could definitely be an awards player,” “Gave me chills,” and “Just made me cry.” Sadly, the trailer was for CinemaCon attendees only, so we only have these Twitter reactions for now.

Another impressive moment from the footage is that both Cooper and Gaga sang live.

"[Gaga's] kind of a revelation in this movie, Cooper told the CinemaCon audience. “When I approached her for it, she said, ‘Well, we’re going to sing live.’ And I was like, ‘Well, you’ll sing live because I don’t sing.’ And she said, ‘No, no. What I can’t stand in the movies is when you see that it’s playback and they’re lip-syncing to it. No, we’re going to sing live.’"

Gaga reportedly taught Cooper how to sing and the two were spotted filming some scenes at Coachella last year.
