Lady Gaga’s most underrated moments ever, in honor of her 33rd birthday

Oscar winner Lady Gaga—who turns 33 today, March 28th—has built an incredible career since releasing her debut single “Just Dance” all the way back in 2008. Since then, she’s collected numerous Grammys, two Golden Globes, and, most recently, an Oscar. She’s also made a point of building a platform based on kindness and acceptance, which is a message everyone can get behind. So, in honor of Lady Gaga’s birthday, we’re sharing some of Mother Monster’s most inspirational moments throughout the years. One warning: You might want to grab the tissues for this one.
When she launched her Born This Way Foundation.
Alongside her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, Lady Gaga founded her Born This Way Foundation, an organization “committed to supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to create a kinder and braver world,” per the foundation’s website.

When she joined a vigil in Los Angeles after the Pulse nightclub shooting.
After the horrific mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in 2016, Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at L.A.’s City Hall to help read aloud the victim’s names during a vigil after L.A. Pride.
"I know you all have been feeling a tremendous range of emotions...I can't help but feel this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself," she said.
When she protested the 2016 election results.
Following Donald Trump’s win in 2016, Lady Gaga showed up outside of Trump Tower in New York on a sanitation truck to protest the results, brandishing a sign that simply read, “Love trumps hate.”
When she gave the Super Bowl performance of a lifetime.
Mother Monster performed a legendary set at the 2017 Super Bowl, delivering a subtly political concert that included her hit song “Born This Way.” Ahead of the performance, she talked to The New York Times about what spectators could expect:
"I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and that the spirit of this country is one of love and compassion and kindness. My performance will uphold those philosophies."
When she bared her soul in the Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two.
Lady Gaga bravely invited fans into her private life and struggle with severe chronic pain in the 2017 Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two.
When she stood up for a young girl being bullied at school.

Her already-iconic 2019 Oscars acceptance speech.
Okay, this one might not technically be underrated, but we love it so much we just had to include it. Lady Gaga took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 2019 Oscars, thanks to her hit “Shallow” from A Star Is Born. The teary-eyed artist’s acceptance speech is pretty much required viewing for anyone with a dream.
"If you are at home and you're sitting on your couch, all I have to say is this is hard work," she told the crowd. "I've worked hard for a long time, and it's not about—it's not about—winning. It's about not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. [...] And it's not about how many times you get rejected, or you fall down, or you're beaten up. It's about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going."
