Kylie Jenner doesn’t want to be famous forever, and we totally get that

Being famous undoubtedly has many perks (you can always get the best table at the hottest restaurant and have designer clothes magically appear for red carpet events… and that’s just the beginning!) but after a while, all that time in the spotlight can be exhausting.

No one knows how that feels better than Kylie Jenner, who as the youngest of the Kardashian clan has been a household name since Keeping Up with the Kardashians first graced our TV screens all the way back in 2007. And that’s when Kylie was a mere ten years old.

She recently opened up about her struggles with fame in an interview with Allure, saying that she has created a separate persona for herself in order to deal with the criticism that comes her way as a celebrity. “I usually don’t show my true personality to the world,” she admits to the magazine. So there’s Kylie the real-life person with thoughts, dreams, and feelings, and there is Kylie—The Brand.  And it’s latter takes the hits, protecting the actual person underneath.

Through the ups and downs of this insane rollercoaster ride, Kylie said her strength has been her very famous, very large family. “Honestly, if I didn’t have family in my life, and I was going through all this by myself, I don’t know what I would do,” she told Allure.

Fame has also made her appreciate the important things, like the difference between short and long term happiness. “A new car; that’s not real happiness. That lasts a month.” Real happiness? “Being with your friends,” she said.

Because she got into showbiz at such a young age, Kylie said she has trouble remembering a time when things were simpler. “I can’t remember what it’s like not to be famous,” she told the magazine.

Even though she’s only twenty-years-old, it’s not surprising that Kylie already dreams of the next stage in her life, and doing “normal things” like starting a family. “I know I don’t want to be famous forever. There’s gonna be a time where I feel comfortable, I’m at a good place in my life, and I’ll just stop.”

We hope Kylie’s able to experience the ease of non-fame again, because everybody deserves a some peace and quiet in this world.
