Kylie Jenner’s simple clapback to a troll who said she was “better” when she was “skinny” was perfect
Unfortunately, many people somehow feel like they have the license to judge the looks of people in the public eye. No woman owes any troll an explanation for her body. So while we didn’t need Kylie Jenner responding to Instagram comments about her appearance, we are applauding her simple clapback. Jenner came with facts.
A fan account—not even Jenner herself—shared a throwback picture of the makeup mogul from a party three years ago. Somehow, that made trolls feel like they could judge her weight. (Weird, because we were so focused on her amazing cropped bob.) “Wow she’s so skinny here,” wrote one commenter, adding emojis to show the, well, petty tone. Someone else responded to that by saying, “She was better.” Ugh.
Jenner simply responded to the trolls with, “I birthed a baby.”

Fact. Jenner gave birth to her daughter, Stormi Webster, in February 2018. So, this photo was likely taken before she was even pregnant—as Jenner went into social media hiding during that time. Another fact: Women’s bodies change after they give birth.
Jenner herself has opened up about struggling with her body after delivering Stormi. In a July 2018 YouTube video with then-BFF Jordyn Woods, she listed the ways that pregnancy changed her appearance: “My boobs are definitely three times the size, which bothers me. I have stretch marks on my boobs. My stomach isn’t the same, my waist isn’t the same, my butt’s bigger, my thighs—bigger.”
Later that year, for Glamour UK‘s Autumn/Winter 2018 issue, Jenner seemed to come to peace with her body changes at age 20: “Pregnancy completely changed my body at a super young age,” she said. “But I really don’t care.”
Women’s relationships to their bodies post-pregnancy are complicated, so for a troll to call out a mother’s weight is rude and unnecessary. And, though she didn’t have to, we love Jenner dropping truths in response.
