So *this* is why you’ll never see Kristen Stewart on social media

Don’t expect to catch a glimpse of Kristen Stewart on Snapchat anytime soon. While promoting her latest film, Personal Shopper, the actress shared her thoughts on the pervasive nature of social media, and how she finds it a “massive disconnection” between the physical space and the web.

In discussing the film, she talked about her character’s fixation with her phone, and how she found our collective obsession with the way others live their lives strange. According to CBS, she discussed our society’s preoccupation with social media, saying that we could be doing “way cooler shit” with our time. And, in a way, she’s kind of right.

"It’s weird, like we think we have more control over that now than we’ve ever had because we have it in our hands? But we have none," she mused.

Many others have gotten real about being visible on social media, echoing Kristen’s concerns. Though there’s a valid argument to be made about how social media can be positive, her comments on how we monitor the every move of others can be comparable to stalking.

While the effects of being online differ from person to person, even she concedes that, "If it’s real for you, then what the hell else is there?

We’ll do our best to be more mindful when it comes to how we interact with each other online!
