Kristen Bell makes sure her daughters take care of themselves with this genius trick
She’s always seemed like a fun mom, so we’re not surprised that Kristen Bell makes sure her daughters stay healthy in a fun and clever way. While four-year-old Lincoln and two-year-old Delta are still a bit young for a gym membership, Bell noted to Shape that she often stresses the importance of making fitness and health a priority. Since we only get one body, we might as well learn how to take care of it early.
Bell’s method seems to be pretty charming — just like she is. As a mom, she knows her daughters will probably imitate her own movements. So she’s managed to teach them a few moves on the sly.
"When I'm in their room with them, I'll do some squats," Bell said. "When they ask what I'm doing, I'll say I'm getting my physical fitness in. And because they copy everything I do, the next time they pick up a heavy bag they'll say, ‘I'm getting my workout in.'"
Staying active is just one of the healthy lessons Bell wants to teach her kids.
"It's a value I want to instill in my kids at an early age — that paying attention to your body is mandatory," she said. "Whether it's putting my sunscreen on or doing push-ups, it's not just me taking care of myself but also helping me shape my daughters."
While everyone wants the best for their kids, stressing the importance of health is often a lesson that might get swept under the rug — especially since children (and parents) today juggle so many responsibilities at once. So not only do we like that Bell is prioritizing health, but we also love that she’s making healthy choices seem so enjoyable.
