This is how Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard keep their outrage in check
Everyone gets a little outraged sometimes — yes, even our fave Hollywood power couple, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. At a flavor launch party for Bell’s snack bar brand, This Bar Saves Lives, HelloGiggles caught up with Bell and asked about how she balances said outrage and frustration when it blows up.
"I bitch to my husband at night and he bitches to me and we keep each other in check," Bell said. "If he starts complaining about something, I will call him on it and vice versa. We have a very healthy center of debate at our kitchen table."
And to make sure Bell and Shepard as a couple stay in check, they bring in some outside help.
"It involves a lot of friends too," Bell continued. "They call us on everything. We have a very open dialogue about a lot of things. A lot of vulnerable topics. We call each other on it because...I don't think many other types of communication are that healthy when they're strictly abiding by these taboo rules."
Bell and Shepard have grown in their “bitching” and fighting techniques since they first started dating. In September of 2017, Bell revealed on Harry that she and Shepard used to get into “toxic” fights during which Bell often used the “dramatic exit” to avoid actually ending an argument.
But it’s always better to get it out than to keep it in, and it seems as though Bell learned that lesson. She told Harry host Harry Connick Jr. that Shepard actually sat her down and told her she needed to work on her fighting skills.
"He said, 'Let's just help you. You are not a good fighter.' And I always thought I was because I won," Bell told Connick Jr. "He's like, 'No, people can't do that. Our marriage won't survive.' And everything he was saying was making so much sense and I was like, 'damn this guy.'"
We’re glad to see that Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are still keeping each other in check. We all need someone to cool us down mid-rage.
