Krispy Kreme has branched out into a totally different sweet treat, and we have to try these

There is nothing more satisfying than the first bite of a Krispy Kreme doughnut. First, there’s that amazing doughnut scent. Second, you get the sugary goodness of the signature glaze. Finally, the chewy, warm dough. The elements alone are enough to catapult your taste buds into orgasmic, foodie heaven.

Imagine our surprise when we discovered something even better — Krispy Kreme Jelly Bellies! Addicting, poppable bits of sweetness?   Oh yeah, they are real.  They were spotted at the 2017 Sweets and Snacks Expo in Chicago.  The colorful candies are blowing up Instagram and our minds.

One look and we think you’ll fall in food lust. We sure did.

Just when you think it couldn’t get any better. First of all, they transformed our favorite Krispy Kreme flavors into actual Jelly Bellies. Cinnamon Apple, Strawberry Iced, Glazed Blueberry Cake, and Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles. Second, they of course didn’t leave out our favorite: original glazed.

One word comes to mind. Salivate.

The plastic compartment separates each dreamy flavor into its own pod.  As a result, you can mix and match or snack through one at a time. The packaging prominently features the Jelly Belly and Krispy Kreme Doughnut logos. As if anyone needed the extra nudge. The colors alone are mesmerizing.

Sweets and Snacks Expo is an annual trade show put on by the National Confectioners Association. According to the Chicago Tribune, it may just be one of the largest trade shows of its kind, bringing together buyers and makers. Incredibly, this year 200 exhibitors joined a healthy contingent of 800 participating companies! An estimated 17,000 walked the expo. A sprawling 4-acres of exhibits.

Because of the stiff competition, candy makers are dying to show off their newest ideas.

M&M’s unveiled a caramel chocolate candy. Red Vines put out a candy that was made with real sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup.”Red Vines Made Simple,” seems like a winner to us! Skittles showcased a slow-burning, heat-laced Skittle. Flavors include Blazin’ Mango and Fiery Watermelon. Tic Tacs put out a mind-bending new flavor(s), which are completely mindblowing: they literally change from creamy coconut to tart pineapple. Right in your mouth!

So, with no shortage of innovation, we can rest assured that the future of sugar is as bright and beautiful as the Krispy Kreme Jelly Bellies in the photo-tastic packaging.
