Kris Jenner shared her thoughts on Kanye West’s support of Trump

On October 26th’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kardashian momager Kris Jenner shared her thoughts on son-in-law Kanye West’s support of Donald Trump. West has been vocal about his adoration of Trump, despite having not voted for him during the 2016 election. The rapper has visited the White House, posted several controversial pro-Trump tweets, and recently expressed his political views in an unplanned monologue on September 29th’s episode of Saturday Night Live.

"Kanye’s an amazing son-in-law. He’s an amazing dad and husband and friend and brother-in-law. So we know my son-in-law, Kanye,"  Jenner told host Ellen DeGeneres per ETOnline. "My job as a mom is just to be there for my kids and be a support and love them.

Jenner noted that she can’t control the actions of others—all she can do is encourage and help West become “the best version of himself.”

DeGeneres then asked Jenner about her thoughts on West’s October 11th televised visit with Trump in the Oval Office. West memorably gifted Trump a Superman cape, likened the president to a father figure, and accused black people of being “caught up” in racism. President Trump then endorsed West as a presidential candidate for 2020.

"[The meeting] was very spontaneous," Jenner tells DeGeneres. "And the stuff that they were talking about, when they got to the airplane, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s so Kanye.’ He was sharing thoughts and things of himself. But I would rather he share some of that stuff privately. Obviously, that would be great."

Jenner says that West ultimately has his own thoughts and opinions, and although she and her daughters may not always agree with them, they’re doing their best to support him as a member of the family. DeGeneres’ interview with Jenner airs today, October 26th.
