Koko the gorilla has a crush on Benedict Cumberbatch and we can relate

Koko the gorilla has a lot of passions in life — kittens and protecting the environment, for example. And now, she has a new ultra-relatable hobby: totally crushing on Benedict Cumberbatch.

Koko is well-known for her intelligence and her ability to communicate similar to human beings using sign language. Now, the 44-year-old gorilla has spent so much time around human that she’s developing crushes on all the swoon-worthy people. Koko is the subject of a new BBC1 documentary and producer Bridget Appleby recently told Radio Times that she particularly is fond of English accents. . . especially Benedict’s.

Same, Koko, same.

Koko first became attracted to Benedict’s velvet voice when DVDs of his movies were played in her home, according to Bridget. “Apparently she has a big crush on him,” the producer told Radio Times. “She loves English men.”

Yep, we can totally understand that.

Well Koko, if you haven’t seen it already, we highly recommend binge-watching Sherlock. Well, maybe not — your crush will just turn into full-on love, inevitably. Unfortunately (not totally, though, because we’re happy for him and his new family!), Benedict is taken, but may we suggest Shabani, the most handsome gorilla in the world? But if you’re sticking to English men, there *is* Tom Hiddleston. . .
