Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcome their third child via surrogate
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have expanded their family again! Congratulations are in order, because Kardashian and West welcomed their third child via surrogate on Monday, January 15th, 2018.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” Kim announced on her website today. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
Kardashian has yet to announce the name of her daughter but did include her weight at birth (7 pounds, 6 ounces).
Kardashian announced that she was expanding her family back in September 2017 and that she was using a surrogate. After having her second child Saint, Kim revealed during an April 2017 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians that she and Kanye were trying for a third but that her doctors advised her against it.
“I feel like surrogacy is the only option for me. Kanye and I are going to look into other options and see what we are comfortable with…but I’m definitely leaning towards [surrogacy],” Kim revealed on the show. “I always knew surrogacy was an option — now it’s my reality. Whatever is meant to be will be.” (Spoiler: It was meant to be.)
Once Kardashian decided to move forward with a surrogate, she revealed that it was emotionally more difficult than she expected.
“Obviously you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with,” Kim explained to Entertainment Tonight in November of the surrogate experience. “Knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not my baby now, it’s hard for me. It’s definitely a harder experience than I anticipated just in the control area.”
Kardashian’s young daughter joins older brother Saint and big sis North, and after Kardashian’s long and public fertility struggle, we are so happy for the Kardashian-West family on their exciting news.
